Why is Music Education Important?
So much research has been done to prove the importance of music education. Studying music can have many benefits for children.
Every week at Cherokee, students in grades K-4 have one- hour of music class. Students learn to sing, play instruments, improvise, compose, and how to read music. A well-rounded music education has been proven to have many benefits for students. Students who study music score 20 percent higher on math scores and 22 percent higher in English on standardized tests than students who do not study music. Studying music is good for the brain Music study increases neural growth, and improves the ability to solve multistep problems. It can also raise IQ and help with language development.
